Barn Owl:

This painting is of a Barn Owl on gold background and measures 8 inches x 8 inches acrylic on canvas. This is a piece was completed in the August of 2024. The background is a gold primer that I really enjoy using. With this painting I was trying to give the owl a royal feeling with the mars yellow fine feathers above its face appearing crown like. This painting will be on display October 3rd through the 27th at the Grange Audubon Center in my exhibition "Focus on Feathers

Bluebird in Snow:

This painting is a Eastern Bluebird and measures 30 inches x 24 inches acrylic on canvas. This is a piece completed in the Summer of 2024. The background is a mix of the color paynes gray and burnt umber applied with an airbrush. This painting will be on display October 3rd through the 27th at the Grange Audubon Center in my exhibition "Focus on Feathers

Nuthatch - Paused:

This painting is a white breasted nuthatch and measures 30 inches x 24 inches acrylic on canvas. This is a piece completed in the Fall of 2023. The background is a mix of the color sepia and titan buff applied with an airbrush. I was going for an Indian summer feel, the nuthatch "Paused" just before skittering on to the next branch. Although, the bird and branch both stay within a small palette of paynes gray, burnt umber, cerulean blue and pale umber, with varying mixes of titanium white, there were challenges finding the right level of detail for the belly, wing, and face. This painting will be on display October 3rd through the 27th at the Grange Audubon Center in my exhibition "Focus on Feathers

Bluebird - Up Close and Personal

This is an 11 inch by 14 inch acrylic painting on canvas that I completed in the Spring of 2023. I really love bluebirds the contrast between the blue and orange is amazing. Interestingly, prior to doing this painting I never noticed the shuttle mixing of colors on the feathers between the head and breast the show as a purple tone. This painting sold on my Esty site in late spring!
